of one mind, live in peace; and the GOD of love and peace fhall be with you. Matt. v. 9. Bleffed are the peacemakers ; for they fhall be called the children of GOD. To the Peace- of peace and joy. days- Prov. xii. 20. To the counsellors He that will love life, and fee good -Let him feek peace, and ensue it. Love to God's 1 John iii. 14. We know, that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren: he that loveth not his brother, abideth in death. Ver. 18. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. Ver. 19. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and fhall affure our hearts before him. 1 John iv. 12. If we love one another, GOD dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Pf. xv. 1. LORD, who fhall abide in thy tabernacle? Who fhall dwell in thy holy hill? Ver. 4. Thou shalt furely give him [thy poor poor brother] and thine heart fhall not be grived, when thou giveft unto him; because that for this thing the LORD thy GOD fhall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou putteft thine hand unto. P. xli. 1. Bleffed is he that confidereth the poor ; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. Ver. 2. The LORD will preferve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth and thou wilt not deliver him into the will of his enemies. Ver. 3. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing; thou wilt make all his bed in his fickness. Pf. cxii. 9. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn fhall be exalted with honour. Ver. 5. A good man fheweth favour, and lendeth; he will guide his affairs with discretion. Ver. 6. Surely, he fhall not be moved for ever: the righteous fhall be in everlasting remembrance. Pf. xxxvii. 25. Then fhall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteoufnefs fhall go before thee; the glory of the LORD fhall be thy reward. Ver. 10. If thou draw out thy foul to the hungry, and fatisfy the afflicted foul; then fhall thy light rise in obfcurity, and thy darkness be as the noon-day. Ver. 11. And the LORD fhall guide thee continually, and fatisfy thy foul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou fhalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of waters, whose waters fail not. Matt. x. 42. And whofoever shall give to drink unto one of thefe little ones, a cup of cold water only, in the name of a difciple; verily I fay unto you, he shall in no wife lofe his reward. Go thy way, fell whatsoever thou haft, and give to the poor, and thou fhalt have treafure in heaven. Luke vi. 38. Give, and it fhall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and fhaken together, and running over, fhall men give into your bofom; for with the fame measure that ye mete withal, it fhall be measured unto you again. Luke xi. 41. Give alms of fuch things as ye have ; and behold, all things are clean unto you. Luke xii. 33. Sell that ye have, and give alms : provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treafure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. Luke xvi. 9. When thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind ; Ver. 14. He which foweth sparingly, shall reap alfo fparingly; and he which fow eth bountifully, fhall reap alfo bountifully. Ver. 7.-GOD loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Cor. viii. 12. If there be firft a willing mind, it is accepted according to what a man hath, and not according to what he hath not. 1 Tim. vi. 17, 18. Charge them that are rich in this world—that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to diftribute, willing to communicate. Ver. 19. Laying up in ftore for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Heb. xiii. 16. To do good, and to communicate, forget not; for with fuch facrifices GOD is well pleafed. 2 Cor. ix. 8. GOD is able to make all grace to abound towards you, that ye always having all fufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. Ver. 10. Now he that miniftreth feed to the fower, both minifter bread for your food, and multiply your feed fown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. To Alms in Matt. vi. 3. When thou doft an alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth, Ver. 4. That thine alms may be in fecret; and thy Father which feeth in fecret, will reward thee openly. Be not deceived: God is not mocked; for whatfoever a man foweth, that fhall he alfo reap. Ver. 8. For he that foweth to his flesh, fhall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that foweth to the Spirit, fhall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. |
