Prov. xix. 8. He that getteth wifdom, loveth his own foul: He that keepeth understanding, shall find good.

Eccle. viii. 1. A man's wisdom maketh his face to fhine, and the boldness of his face fhall be changed.
Eccle. vii. 12. Wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Dan. ii. 21. He giveth wisdom unto the wife, and knowledge to them that know understanding.
Dan. xii. 3. They that be wife fhall fhine as the brightnefs of the firmament.

To the Love and
Study of Wisdom.
Wisdom is profitable to direct. Prov. ii. 3. If thou crieft after knowledge, and lifteft up thy voice for understanding;
Ver. 4. If thou seekest her as filver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Ver. 5. Then fhalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Prov. iv. 13. Take fast hold of instruction, let her not go, keep her, for fhe is thy life.
Prop. viii. 17. I love them that love me, and those that feek me early fhall find me.
Prov. xix. 20. Hear counfel, and receive instruction, that thou mayeft be wife in thy latter end.
Hof. vi. 3. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD.
2 Chron. i. 11. And GOD faid to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou haft not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet haft thou asked long life ; but haft asked wisdom and knowledge for thyfelf, that thou mayeft judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

Ver. 3. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

Matt. xi. 29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye fhall find reft unto your fouls.
X. To a due REGARD to the WORD of GOD.
Prov. viii. 34. Bleffed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the pofts of my doors.
To Hearing and
If. ii. 3. Come: ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the GOD of Jacob, and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.
If. lv. 2. Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your foul delight itself in fatnefs.
Ver. 3. Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your foul shall live: And I will make an everlafting covenant with you, even the fure mercies of David.
Ver. 10. For as the rain cometh down, and the fnow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give feed to the fower, and bread to the eater :.
Ver. 11. So fhall my word be, that goeth forth out of my mouth it fhall not return unto me void, but it fhall accomplish that which I please, and it fhall profper in the thing whereto I fent it.

John v. 39. Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify of me.

Ver. 8. The ftatutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Ver. 11. Moreover, by them is thy fervant warn ed; and in keeping of them there is great reward. Pf. cxix. 105. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Ver. 130. The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the fimple.
Prov. vi. 23. The commandment is a lamp, and the law is light, and reproofs of inftruction are the way of life.
