Ver. 4. Trust ye in the LORD for ever; for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

If. xxx. 15. In returning and rest shall ye be faved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.

Ver. 18. Blessed are all they that wait for him. If. xlix. 23. They shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

If. lvii. 13. He that putteth his trust in me, shall poffefs the land, and inherit my holy mountain.

Jer. xvii. 7. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Ver. 8. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not fee when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Neh. i. 7. The LORD knoweth them that trust in him.

Lam. iii. 25. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the foul that seeketh him.

Ver. 26. It is good that a man should both hope, and quietly wait for the falvation of the LORD.

Mic. vii. 7. I will look unto the LORD, I will wait for the God of my falvation; my God will hear

me.

1 Pet. v. 7. Cast all your care upon him, for he careth for you.

VII. To the FEAR of GOD.

Ps. xxv. 14. The secret of the LORD is with: them that fear him, and he will shew them his cove

enant.

Ps. xxxi. 19. O how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee!

Pf. lxxx. 9. Surely his falvation is nigh them that fear him.

Pf. ciii. 11. As the heaven is high above the earth, fo great is his mercy towards them that fear him.

Ps. cxv. 13. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. Ps. cxxviii. 1. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD, that walketh in his ways.

Ps. cxlvii. 11. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him.

Prov. xiv. 27. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snare of death.

Ver. 26. In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence, and his children shall have a a place of refuge. Prov. xvi. 6. By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Prov. iii. 7. Be not wife in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Ver. 8. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Prov. xix. 23. The fear of the LORD tendeth to life, and he that hath it shall abide fatisfied: he shall not be visited with evil..

Eccl. viii. 12. It shall be well with them that fear GOD, which fear before him.

Mal. iv. 2. Unto you that fear my name, shall the Sun of Righteousness arife with healing in his wings. Luke i. 50. His mercy is on them that fear him, from generation to generation.

Ads x. 35. In every nation, he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Ats xiii. 26. Whosoever among you feareth GOD, to you is the word of this salvation fent.

Honouring
God.

1 Sam. ii. 30. Them that honour

me, I will honour.

Prov. iii. 9. Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the

first-fruits of all thine increase.

Ver. 10. So fhall thy barns be filled with plenty and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

VIII. To PRAYER.

Job xxxiii. 26. He shall pray unto God, and he shall be favourable unto him, and he shall see his face with joy.

Exod. xxxiv. 24. Neither shall any man defire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy GOD, thrice in the year.

Deut. iv. 7. What nation is there so great, whe hath GOD so nigh unto them, as the LORD our GOD is in all things that we call upon him for?

Pf. x. 17. LORD thou hast heard the defire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart; thou wilt cause thine ear to hear.

Pf. vi. 9. The LORD hath heard my fupplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Pf. xviii. 3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Pf. lv. 17. Evening, morning, and at noon will I pray, and cry aloud, and he shall hear my voice. Pf. lxxiii. 28. It is good for me to draw near to GOD.

Pf. lxxxvi. 5. Thou, LORD, art good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy to all them that call upon thee.

Ps. cxlv. 18. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him; to all that call upon him in truth. Jer. xxxiii. 3. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.

Joel ii. 32. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be delivered.

Rom. x. 12. The fame LORD over all, is rich unto all that call upon him.

Ver. 13. For whofoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.

James iv. 8. Draw nigh to GOD, and he will draw nigh to you. Job xxii. 21. Acquaint thyself with him, and be at peace; for thereby good fhall come unto thee.

Ezek. xxxvi. 37. I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Ifrael, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

Heb. iv. 14. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of GOD, let us hold fast our profeffion.

Ver. 15. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without fin.

Ver. 16. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. See Promises of Hearing Prayer, Part I. Chap. III. Sect. VI.

God.

Deut. iv. 29. If thou shalt seek the LORD thy GOD, thou shalt find him; if thou seek him with all thy heart, and with all thy foul.

I Chron. xxviii. 9. If thou seek him, he will be found of thee.

Job viii. 5. If thou wouldst seek unto GOD betimes times, and make thy fupplication unto the Almigh

ty.

Ver. 6. If thou wert pure and upright, furely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness profperous.

Pf. ix. 10. Thou, LORD, haft not forsaken them that feek thee.

Pf. lxix. 32. Your heart shall live, that feek GOD.

If. xlv. 19. I faid not unto the feed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain.

Jer. xxix. 13. Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall fearch for me with all your heart.

Lam. iii. 25. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him; unto the foul that feeketh him.

Acts xvii. 27. That they should feek the LORD, if haply they might feel after him, and find him.

Heb. xi. 6. He that cometh to GOD, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of all them that diligently feek him.

2 Chron. xv. 2. The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; if ye feek him, he will be found of you.

Ezra viii. 22. The hand of our GOD is upon all them for good that feek him.

Secret Prayer.

Matth. vi. 6. Thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray to thy Father which is in fecret: and thy Father, which feeth in fecret, shall reward thee openly.

Praising God.

Pf. lxix. 30. I will praise the name of GOD with a fong, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
