The heavenly Inheritance.

Eph. i. 18. The eyes of your underftanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the faints.

1 Pet. i. 3. Who hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the refurrection of Jefus Chrift from the dead.

Ver. 4. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, referved in heaven for you.

CHA P. I.

PROMISES TO DUTIES OF THE FIRST TABLE...

I. TO FAITH in CHRIST.

SA. xxviii. 16. Behold, I lay in Zion for a foun-

ftone, a fure foundation. He that believeth shall not make hafte.

1 Pet. ii. 6. He that believeth on him, fhall not be confounded.

Ifa. xlv. 22.

Look unto me and be ye faved, all the ends of the earth.

Mark ix. 23. If thou canft believe, all things are poffible to him that believeth.

John i. 12. As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the fons of GOD, even to them that believe on his name.

John iii. 16. GOD fo loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whofoever believeth on him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ver. 18. He that believeth on him, is not condemned.

Ver. 36. He that believeth on the Son, hath ever-lafting life, John vi. 47.

John xii. 46. Lam come a light into the world, that

whofoever.

whofoever believeth on me, should not abide in darknefs.

Luke vii. 50. Thy faith hath faved thee: Go in peace.

As x. 43. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whofoever believeth on him, fhall receive remiffion of fins.

Gal. iii. 9. They which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Ver. 7. They which are of faith, the fame are the children of Abraham.

Ver. 22. The fcripture hath concluded all under fin, that the promise by faith of Chrift Jefus might be given to them that believe.

Heb. x. 38. The juft fhall live by faith.

Ver. 39. We are of them that believe, to the fav. ing of the foul.

Eph. ii. 8. By grace you are faved, through faith. Heb. vi. 12. That ye be not flothful, but followers of them, who through faith and patience inherit the promises..

1 Tim. iv. 10. We truft in the living GOD, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of those that believe.

John xx. 29. Bleffed are they that have not feen, yet have believed.

Matth. xi 28. Come unto me, all ye

that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you reft.

John vi. 35. And Jefus faid unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh unto me fhall never hunger, and he that believeth on me fhall never thirst.

Ver. 37. All that the Father giveth me, fhall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise caft out.

1 Pet. ii. 4, 5. To whom coming as unto a living ftone, difallowed indeed of men, but chosen of GOD, and precious; ye alfo, as lively ftones, are built up a fpiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up fpiritual facrifices, acceptable to GOD by Jefus Chrift See Juftification, Part I. Chap. III. Sect. II.

Matt. x. 32.

Whofoever fhall

Confeffing Chrift. confefs me before men, him will I confefs alfo before my Father which is in heaven.

Rom. x. 9. If thou fhalt confefs with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and fhalt believe in thine heart, that GOD hath raised him from the dead, thou fhalt be faved.

Ver. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteoufnefs, and with the mouth confeffion is made unto falvation.

1 John iv. 15. Whofoever fhall confefs that Jefus is the Son of GOD, GOD dwelleth in him, and he in him.

II. TO REPENTANCE.

2 Chron. vii. 14. If my people, which are called by my name, fhall humble themselves and pray, and feek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their fin. 2 Chron. xxx. 9. The LORD your GOD is

cious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

Pf. xxxvii. 27. Depart from evil, and do good, and dwell for evermore.

Prov. i. 23. Turn ye at my reproof: Behold, L will pour out my Spirit upon you; I will make known my words unto you.

Fer. iv. 14. O Jerufalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayeft be faved. fhall vain thoughts lodge within thee?

How long

I. lv. 7. Let the wicked forfake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our GOD, for he will abundantly pardon.

Jer. xviii. 8. If that nation against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

Jer. xxvi. 3. If fo be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them, because. of the evil of their doings.

Ver. 13. Amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your GOD, and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

Jer. xxxvi. 3. That they may return every man from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity, and their fin.

Ezek. xviii. 21. If the wicked will turn from all his fins that he hath committed, and keep all my ftatutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall furely live, he shall not die.

Ver. 22. All his tranfgreffions that he hath committed, they fhall not be once mentioned unto him: In his righteoufnefs that he hath done, he fhall live.

Ver. 23. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked fhould die, faith the LORD GOD, and not that he fhould return from his ways and live?.
