didft die;

Thou fuff'redft much on our behalf, And did't thou merit nought thereby? Forbid that thought! Thy Blood indeed,

Has purchas'd ev'ry Grace we need. 2. We need not lie in Chains of fin, In fear and darkness all our days; If but our hearts have thee within, Our mouths can gladly found thy praise :

Numbers of flaves thou haft made free,

For where grace is, there's Liberty. 3. There's fome ftrange virtue in thy Death,

Which may we daily more difcern; Something that can a new Life breath Into the foul, and make it burn: Thank him all ye, who know indeed This truth, that he for you did bleed.

You, (who were flaves of fin

before,) The Saying chearfully repeat: "Thou, Lord, for love of us haft bore

"Contempt and pain, and bloody fweat;

"Our Souls from fin and hell to free, "And win our hearts to follow Thee!

Who've rightly known the fearful | 6. Now deareft Lamb! we inly pray,

state,

Wherein Souls doubtful stand, E'er Chrift felects them to enjoy

Their native heav'nly Land.

2. Grace! how exceeding great to
thofe,

Who truly Sinners are,
Who feel their need, yea, Death;

to fuch

All elfe is tafteless Fare!
While fuch as fleep their Death away,

Senfelefs, tho' heirs of hell,
Neglect the Offers made by Grace,
Its comforts never feel.
3. When firft the foul awakes, it fees

And curfes Satan's yoke;
Great Hindrances and chains appear,
Not easy to be broke:
But Grace, free Grace, most sweetly
calls,

"Directly come, who will,
"Juft as you are, for Chrift receives
"Poor helpless finners ftill."

4. Thus has he dealt with me; gain'd

I

At first a gracious Wink; And then pure draughts of peace and joy

From his Side's Well to drink.

Now my e'er

That in thy Service we
May active, holy, faithful prove;
But more especially,

That we in Thee may still abide,
For Babes we are most weak,
Poor finners ftill, who without thee,
Can nought act, think or speak.
7. O give us more, more ev'ry day,
'Till we're quite funk in Grace,
To drink, ftill drink! for fince thou'st
giv'n

Us Life, fuch thirst takes place;
And we believe, and humbly truft,
This thirft the fame will be,
Where'er we live, where'er we range,
Through all eternity.

8. Be for all this, Husband of fouls!
Here and in Heav'n ador'd:
How great is all thy Faithfulness,
Antient and late, O Lord!
'Tis Grace each day fo feeds our fouls;
Grace keeps us inly poor;
And O! that nothing else but Grace,
May rule for evermore.

But do some little thing, to fhew

And of that fole Fountain of all fal-
vation,

Canft fo diftin&tly give us information,
That we it know.
2. A precious mystery it is indeed;
The bleffed Angels ftill to learn pro-

ceed

More of God's deep wisdom, which
they fo value,

And by Chrift's Church, and his elect
Retinue,

They trace it out.

Than others; we by nature are mere
Sin,

Like the most corrupted; we are

Our right to mercy in itself's no

Will likewife other Supplicants attend:

For he's most defirous they too might profper;

To draw ftill gently all men to him
