on,

That God my Sorrows bore.

7. Me has my great Reproach forfook,

He counts me even fair; But yet that Shame, which his Heart broke,

Does ftill in me appear.

8. Now here the thought comes in my heart,

Might I a Babe abide! And throughout in the Baby-cart, My Course determin'd ride. 9. But yet another Thought, that I My dear Lord's am, not mine, Makes that myself and all my Way I quite to Him refign.

10. If any where in this Time's fpace

He poits his Child 'mong Men, And arms him o'er with chearfulness, He is a Hero then.

11. Thofe Seers, who are Kings withal,

(And of this race are we) In Jefus Chrift the Man, do all Two fine endowments fee.

That the King orders to be done,

And Counsel turns to Deed. 14. For on Him does for ever lie (The word moft certain is) The Spiritus Confilii

15:

Et Fortitudinis.

I therefore here all times intreat,
To feel his Peace fo kind,
And beg a conftant Presence meet
Of Spirit and of Mind.

16. Thus I fee not the evil day;
And is my Counsel clear
Then the glad Spirit finds alway
The Execution near.

17. Then learn I my Cafe presently,
And childlikely do draw,
As the Lord's Prince and Prophet,
nigh

To Staff and Shekinah.

18. Wisdom's that Look, diftinct and bright,

Into pure Nature true; And Understanding fits it right, As for this Time is due. 19. Angels, who see the Father's face, Live in Truth's radiant light; And thus, if fent on Warrior's race, Want fure no Requifite.

20. But yet this Urim they have so, Borrow'd from Göd's Chrift 'tis ; Who of the Angel nature too

Faithful Creator is.

21. And Angel-understandings muft, In this our fort of Light, And as things ftand with Mankind,

firft

Have Information right.

22. As Thou dost first this Thummim bear,'

Thou giv'ft it, Angels Prince! Thou cam'ft into our Atmosphere, Where thou didst Man commence. 23. I do not wifh fo mightily That heav'n-tranfcending School;

Pre

Preferring to it willingly

The Heart-Profeffor's Stool. 24. Yet the least doubt I can't admit, But thy Caufe fometimes will Have me to look into that Light,

Where I on thee wait ftill. 25. If Angel-nature's Myfticism (Which one respecteth too) Be, with God's Paffion's Catechifm Superlative, ting'd thro',

26. Then fure the luftre high will us Not dazzle with such pow'r,

That human Understanding thus

Shall not 'bide as before.

27. Still lafts that Mind, one to Christ has,

So as he Jefus is;

In univerfal Nature's space,

We own no Rule but this.

28. There the Degree is also known, How far God has in fact Fitted and deftin'd any one

For Counsel, or for A&t.

29. Now, Holy Ghoft! I thee receive,

Howe'er nam'd, from Chrift's
Head,

'Cause He on whom my heart believes,

Thee to me promised.

33. So then, my Lord! infpir'd from thee,

I do the Thummim take, Which, like the Wife-men's Star, will me

Juftly apply Things make: 34. Moreover, what a Prieft muf ufe,

If his Lips hallow'd will To Heart-enjoyment Truths reduce, And are to keep them ftill. 35. Cloath with this Spirit practical, Which is of mighty Worth, Whome'er in oeconomical

Function thou fet'ft on Earth. 36. Now fenfe and thought no farther goes,

Stopt fhort at once,- for ah! The first of th' feven Spirits blows, The Spirit of Joshua;

37. Which bore in the Old Teftament JEHOVAH's Spirit's Name, Whilst the Beginning and the End Not yet together came.

38. That Jehovah a Man would be, Was then as yet conceal'd: Yea as contending Party, he

Seem'd from his Creature veil'd. 39. Twixt Chrift and Belial, underftood

No man, what Procefs lay; And how the holy Suppliant fhou'd His Suit once gain, yet pay.

Zech. iii.

40. Now fince this bleffed Text of God

Thro' all the World obtains ; From whence it consequently flow'd, That Jefus Brethren gains ;

41. It follows, that the Spirit's Force Which that fole Man once here Brought with him from the Godhead's Source,

Is now to us more near.

42. We climb not Heaven's light | 45. Now he, who hundred Locks

To speak a Bleffing, now his

That Prieft need only heave;
Or with his Mouth's Kifs fingeing

When he will Peace impart ;
And in the Moment comes, that you
Invite him from the heart;

And blefs his Church's plan,
At times just look it thro' and thro',
Then up again and gone!

Thy Heart does o'erflow

With joy, when He's nam'd,

Especially when his bleft Paffion's proclaim'd.

As not any Stranger can e'er understand.

HOU God's unspotted Lamb,
The holy Spouse by Name!
Who out of the Throne came,
And took the human Frame.

1. The Four, who day nor night Rest know,
Do conftantly before Thee bow:

The twenty-four around the Throne,
Do gladly thy due Honour own.

2. They worship Thee, thou Lamb once flain!
Moreover, all that heav'nly Train
In thy one Perfon, Name and Face,
The Father, Son, and Spirit trace.

3. Thou flaughter'd Lamb! we honour Thee,
And praise thy Office tremblingly :
That thou the Book from th' Father tak'ft,
And its feven Seals open break'st.

4. Daily, dear Heart! do we love Thee
And thy Name inexpreffibly;

That Name which thou alone canft say,
And doft on us thy People lay.

5. In this World now no more art Thou,
Us as thy Race thou leav'ft below.
So feal us then fecure and free
From Sin and earthly Misery!

6. Let our white Robe of Righteousness
Be in thy Blood kept clean always;
Till thou above kill of thy Bride
The Temple, Light and Lamb abide.

* Luk. x. 38.

They kneel before our Joshua,
Ready to wipe his Sweat away.
4. God, who th' Eternities did
frame,
Who henceforth bears a double name,
He bodily in a Virgin's womb
One with Man's Nature did become.
5. His robe had been eternal Light,
A Body God for him did fit,
When on that Maid to this great End
The Holy Ghost's Pow'r did defcend.
6. And why, thou Bride of God moft
dear,

Did the Godhead in Flesh appear?
(To thy fhame, to Chrift's Praise be't
faid)

Thou left'ft his holy Marriage-bed:

7.Thou in his en my's arms didit lie, How faft, alas! did he hold thee, Till the Strong God himself appear'd, And th' Virgin from the ftrong conquer'd.

8. God who effential Wifdom is,
* Prov. viii. 22, &c.

Who all created entities
And Times did help once to project,
The Maker's own joint Architect,
9. That Majefty divine indeed,
Who from the Father doth proceed,
And whom the Bridegroom, taking
leave,

Did to the Bride, as beft Friend, give:
10. The fame doth now delight profess
In thee, and in thy Wedding dress ;
Changes thy whole perplexity
Into divinest Parrhefy.

11. Now then refide within his Joy,
Blush at thyself eternally,
And th' higher thy fpoufe raiseth thee;
Of Him, while he lives, joyful be.
12. Our coming to thee in thy Blifs
Wait for, till that New-birth of Days!
For when this fhall accomplish'd be,
Thou shalt thyfelf compleated fee.

13. When once thy Spouse to
Doom draws nigh, --
And Earth and Heav'n before him fly;
As we, after his promife true,
New Heav'ns and Earth expect to
view :

14. Then thou with him triumphant
ride,

And place thyfelf around his Side,
From whence thou dug and formed

wert,
