11. But he, who th' creature did devife, Who likewise finners health supplies,

The dear God of Mankind, Did foon foresee, among the reft Of the Fall's evils, that which prefs'd Lot's daughters, when their ground] we find.

12. Indeed the fov'reign Good and Love

Could not fuch Solitude approve,

For his weak Bride, that the
Alone till her high nuptial Day,
Should mufe and pine herself away,
And but in Faith betrothed be.
13. So he divided her in two:
The weaker forth detach'd must go;
While the fuperior Mind,
And also greater Strength and might,
For tasks of God's Vicegerent fit,

On th' other fide remain'd behind.
Yet ev'n the weaker Part was

feen
A Princefs in its Air and Mein;
And that the like might be,,

She was permitted to poffefs, As her peculiar gift of grace,

Love and refign'd Fidelity.

15. Who with this Thought, man! did thee stock,

Save he, who loves the fouls to mock,

That ev'n a Forehead bare 'Fore God and Angel-eyes fo clear With greater Honour does appear,, Than parts where Sexes diffrenc'd are ?

16. Yet, that wild Nations naked walk,

Undoubtedly is their mistake;

Since He himself thought fit To hide the Members, as we know, Thro' prudent care, because that now They would not be confider'd right.

17. Howe'er, fo long as Hearts unclean

Delight to fport themselves with fin,
The evil eye finds place,
In fpite of ev'ry decent Veil,
The flesh and members to defile;

Ev'n Cloysters help not in this cafe. 18. But when th' Eternal Wedding's. grace

And bleffing round the Heart takes place,

When therewith it is fill'd; Then are the Members of Chrift's Train,

Young, old, the Sifters, and the Men, A Sanctu'ry to themselves feal'd.

6. We in a flesh indeed live ftill, But not fin ferving Flesh: The Heart remains chafte all the while,

The Soul Chrift's Blood feels fresh.

That Mary's chatte Mind

Anointing and fweet'ning our blood From Manger, till on Crofs he dy'd,

And the fame yet does wear.

9. May He view this poor pair with grace,

Who shall one Flesh be now; Far as it may, be all as 'twas

In his Flesh here below! 10. In general, the Marriage ftate Depends on fefu's Pains: Therefore we'll fprinkle our bles knot

With Blood out of his Veins.

Tho' wisdom of Nature it cannot

In one Flesh we're join'd,
One foul, as the Lamb

What care Jefus fhews,

EAR Lamb, fo freely flain,
Ev'n for the Widows train,
Explain to us our State,
And all of us create

As thou would't have us be;
Make us efpous'd to Thee.

2. Thou art the widows Friend,
To us thy Spirit fend;
Be in our husband's place,
And fill us with thy Grace.
All worldly Care remove,
Since thou tak'ft care above.
3. O with that Singleness
Of heart us kindly blefs,
That not one e'er may know
What 'tis wanton to grow,
Dear Saviour, against thee,
Who wilt our Husband be.
4. Root out each carnal Luft
In thee let's put our Trust;
(Our Children, those poor fouls,
Take too in thy Wound-holes,)
In short, give what we need
Widows to be indeed. *

To Jefus than all other,
Glad this Mother poor
Took within his Door,
Would not leave her more.
3. Who would not willingly
His Saviour's Mother fee
In his habitation?
This muft John's priv'lege be,
'Twas his predeftination
And his proper lot,
Which now we have not
To experience got.

4. Yet whofoever can
Believe God's Word to man,
'Tis to them a bleffing,
And purely grace's plan,
To nurse a Creature, miffing
Hufband, friends and ftore,
A true Widow, poor,
Soul and body o'er.

5. But thou must wicked be,
Thou Chriftian's Relict free!
if thou Chrift forsakest,
And that Pledge wantonly
To luft an off'ring makest,
Which in Jefu's Hands

From the Marriage bands.
6. Yea, hence a curse it is;
Since our Lord's Will is this,
