A. D. 30. Fall on us, and hide us from the face 14. Let us be glad and rejoice, and of him that sitteth on the throne, and give honour to him: for the marriage from the wrath of the Lamb, 16. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb, 4. The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone, in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb, 10. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true arethy ways, thou King of saints, xv. 3. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful, xvii.

saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof, 22, 23. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life, 27. And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him, xxii. 1-3.

Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips, Hos. xiv. 2. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many, Matt. xx. 28. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1 Cor. xv. 3. For he hath made him

same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins, for ever sat down on the right hand of God, From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified, x. 4-14. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye are healed, 1 Pet. ii. 24. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit, iii. 18. And he is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world, 1 John ii. 2. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin, iii. 5. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins, iv. 10. And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, Rev. i. 5.

Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people, ii. 17. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God, ix. 14. Καγὼ οὐκ ᾔδειν αὐτόν· ἀλλ ̓ ἵνα φανερωθῇ τῷ Ἰσραὴλ, διὰ τοῦτο ἦλθον ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι βαπτίζων.

And I knew him not: a but that he should be made manifest to Israel, there fore am I come bbaptizing with water.

4 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe, ver. 7. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD, iv. 2-5. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fa thers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to

make ready a people prepared for the Lord, Luke i. 17. And thou,child, shalt be called the Prophet of the Highest : for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace, 76-79.

VER. 32.

Καὶ ἐμαρτύρησεν Ἰωάννης, λέγων· Ὅτι τεθέαμαι τὸ Πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον ὡσεὶ περιστερὰν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐπ ̓ αὐτόν.

And John bare record, saying, a I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

VER. 33.

Καγὼ οὐκ ᾔδειν αὐτόν· ἀλλ ̓ ὁ πέμψας με βαπτίζειν ἐν ὕδατι, ἐκεῖνός μοι εἶπεν· Ἐφ ̓ ὃν ἂν ἴδῃς τὸ Πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον καὶ μένον ἐπ' αὐτὸν, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ βαπτίζων ἐν

Πνεύματι ἁγίῳ.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

VER. 34. Καγὼ ἑώρακα, καὶ μεμαρτύρηκα ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ.

And I saw, and bare record that a this is the Son of God.

VER. 35.

Τῇ ἐπαύριον πάλιν εἱστήκει ὁ Ἰωάννης, xai in Tv μabntãov avtoù dúo.

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

Καὶ ἐμβλέψας τῷ Ἰησοῦ περιπατοῦντα, λέγει· Ἴδε ὁ ἀμνὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ,

Λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ερχεσθε καὶ ἴδετε. Ἦλθόν

Καὶ ἤκουσαν αὐτοῦ οἱ δύο μαθηταὶ λα- καὶ εἶδον που μένει· καὶ παρ ̓ αὐτῷ ἔμειναν λοῦντος, καὶ ἠκολούθησαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ. τὴν ἡμέραν ἐκείνην· ὥρα δὲ ἦν ὡς δεκάτη.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it? Prov. xv. 23. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, Rom. x. 17. Στραφεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ θεασάμενος αὐτοὺς ἀκολουθοῦντας, λέγει αὐτοῖς·

Τί ζητεῖτε ; Οἱ δὲ εἶπον αὐτῷ· Ραββί, (ὃ λέγεται ἑρμηνευόμενον, διδάσκαλε,) ποῦ μένεις ;

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, aRabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,)

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel, ver. 49. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come

from God for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him, iii. 2. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold the same baptizeth, and all men come to him, 26. And when | they had found him on the other side | of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? vi. 25. And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master even Christ; and all ye are brethren, Matt. xxiii. 7, 8.

He saith unto them, a Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the twelfth hour.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, lowly in heart and ye shall find rest and my burden is light, Matt. xi. 28— 30. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them, Luke xxiv.

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

Now a Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Τῇ ἐπαύριον ἠθέλησεν ὁ ̓Ιησοῦς ἐξελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν· καὶ εὑρίσκει Φίλιππον, καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· ̓Ακολούθει μοι.

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ· Ἐκ Ναζα

VER. 47.

Εἶδεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Ναθαναὴλ ἐρχόμενον πρὸς αὐτὸν, καὶ λέγει περὶ αὐτοῦ· Ιδε, ἀληθῶς Ἰσραηλίτης, ἐν ᾧ δόλος οὐκ ἔστι.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, "Behold an Israelite indeed, bin whom is no guile!

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh; But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men,
