THE late Dr GILLIES, of Glasgow, published, in 1765, from the Manuscripts of Mr MACLAURIN, a Volume of "Sermons and Essays," in 12mo. Another Volume in 8vo, edited by Dr GILLIES, appeared in 1773, under the title of," An Essay on the Prophecies relating to the Messiah. To which is subjoined, An Inquiry in to Happiness, and Three Sermons. By the late Rev. Mr JOHN MACLAURIN." In the Edition, now presented to the Public, the whole of these Sermons are collected together, and form the first Volume; and all the Essays, excepting that on the Prophecies relating to the Messiah, are contained in the second Volume. This larger Essay may afterwards be published in a third Volume; and thus: form a complete Edition of the whole Works of an Au thor, whose writings cannot fail to edify and delight.
