132. The Supports of Chriftians in general, of the Lord's Ministers in particular, under Sufferings for Religion.

Ifa. lxvi. 5. Hear the Word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his Word, your Brethren that hated you, that caft you out for my Name's Sake, faid, let the Lord be glorified; but he fhall appear to your Joy, and they shall be ashamed. Luke 6. 22, 23.

Matt. v. 10. Bleffed are they which are perfecuted for Righteoufness Sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven, Ver. 11.

Wicked Minifters.

133. Wicked Minifters, their Sin and Punishment. Lev. x. 1. Nadab and Abihu offered strange Fire before the Lord which he commanded them not.

Jer. ii. 8. The Priests faid not, where is the Lord? and they that handle the Law knew me not; the Paftors alfo tranfgreffed against

me, &c.

Ver. 22. If they had flood in my Counsel, and had caufed my People. to hear my Words, then they should have turned them from the Evil of their Doings.

Ver. 27. They caufe my People to forget my Name by their Dreams. Ver. 30. Therefore I am against the Prophets, faith the Lord.

134. Their Covetousness. Ifa. lvi. 11. Her Watchmen are all greedy Dogs which can never have enough; they all look to their own Way, every one for his Gain from his Quarter. See the Covetousness of Eli's Sons, 1 Sam. 2. 12. to 17.

Jer. viii 10. Every one from the leaft, even to the greatest, is given to Covetousness, Ch. 6. 13.

Ezek. xiii. 19. Will ye pollute my Name for Handfuls of Barley and Pieces of Bread.

Hof. vi. 9. As Troops of Robbers the Priests murder in the Way, they commit Lewdnefs.

Mal. i. 10. Who is there among you that would fhut the Doors for Nought? neither do they kindle Fire on mine Altar for Nought. I have no Pleasure in you, neither will I accept an Offering at your Hands, faith the Lord of Hofts.

iii. 11. The Priests teach for Hire, and the Prophets divine for Money.

Ver. 12. Therefore fhall Zion for your Sakes be plowed as a Field. John x. 12. He that is an Hireling, whofe own the Sheep are not, feeth the Wolf coming, and leaveth the Sheep, and fleeth.

Ver. 13. The Hireling fleeth, because he is an Hireling, and careth not for the Sheep.

Acts xx. 29. After my Departure fhall grievous Wolves enter in among you, not fparing the Flock.

Ver. 2. Ye have fcattered my Flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold I will vifit upon you the Evil of your Doings, faith the Lord.

Ezek. iii 18. When I fay unto the Wicked, thou fhalt furely die; and thou giveft him not Warning, nor fpeakeft to warn the Wicked from his wicked Way to fave his Life; the fame wicked Man fhall die in his Iniquity; but his Blood will I require at thine Hand.

xxxiv. 2. Thus faith the Lord, wo be to the Shepherds; should not the Shepherds feed the Flock. See to Ver. 11.

xliv. 8. Ye have not kept the Charge of mine holy Things, but ye have fet Keepers of my Charge in my Sanctuary for yourselves.
