Honouring God.

226. Honour due to God and claimed by him. Mal. i. 6. A Son honoureth his Father, and a Servant his Mafter, if I then be a Father, where is mine Honour? If I be a Master, where is my Fear? faith the Lord of Hofts. John 8. 49. Jefus faid, honour my Father.

231. Honouring Chrift, Motives to it. John v. 22. The Father hath committed all Judgment unto the Son.

Ver. 23. That all Men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father, he that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that fent him. See Rev. 5. 12. 13. The Father and Son honoured. John viii. 58. Jefus faid, it is the Father that honoureth me.

2 Pet. i. 17. He received from God the Father Honour and Glory, when there came fuch a Voice from the excellent Glory, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleafed, Matt. 17. 5.

232. The Wicked dishonour God and are punished. Ifa. xxix. 13: This People draw near me with their Mouth, and with their Lips do honour me, but have removed their Heart far from me, woe unto them, Ver. 14. Ch. 43. 23-58. 2. Matt. 15. 8. Rom. 2. 23.

1 Sam. ii. 29. The Lord faid to Eli, wherefore honoureft thou thy Sons above me? to make yourselves fat with the choiceft of the Offerings of Jacob?

Ver. 36. Behold it fhall come to pafs, that every one that is left in thine House, shall come and crouch to the Priest for a Piece of Silver, and for a Morfel of Bread, and fhall fay, put me (I pray thee) into one of the Priest's Offices, that I may eat a Fiece of Bread.

Glorifying God.

233. To glorify God commanded. 1 Sam. vi. 5. Ye fhall give Glory to the God of Ifrael, 1 Cor. 6. 20.-10. 31.

Ifa. xlix. 3. Thou art my Servant, O lfrael, in whom I will be glorified, Ch. 43. 7.

234. Chrift glorified God on Earth. John 13. 31. God is glorified in him, Ver. 32.

xvii. 4. I have glorified thee on Earth, I have finifhed the Work which thou gavest me to do. Ch. 7. 18. He fought God's Glory. 235. Men glorify God by Praife and Thankfulness.

1 Pet. v. 10. The God of all Grace who hath called us unto his eternal Glory by Christ Jefus, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Ver. 11. To him be Glory and Dominion for ever and ever.

Amen 2 Pet. iii. 18. Grow in Grace, and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jefus Chrift, to him be Glory both now and for ever. Amen, Rev. iv. 11. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive Glory, and Honour, and Power, for thou haft created all Things, and for thy Pleafure they are and were created. Rom. 11. 36.

Note, The Reader may observe in the above Scriptures, that the Things mentioned along with Glory, are Reasons for afcribing it to God, alfo that Glory is in fome of them directly afcribed to Chrift, and in others to God the Father through Chrift. See Chriit's Glory, before and in his Incarnation, and after it. Ch. upon the Dignity and Offices of Jefus Christ.

240. God is glorified in the Reftoration and Prevalence of true Religion among his People, Pf. ii. 19. Let the whole Earth be filled with his Glory. Pf. 97. 6.—102. 16.

Ifa, xliv. 23. The Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Ifrael. Ch. 49. 3.

Ix. 1. The Glory of the Lord is rifen upon thee.

Ver, 21. Thy People shall be all righteous that I may be glorified. Ifa Ixi. 3. To give unto them that mourn in Zion, Beauty for Ashes, &c. that they might be called Trees of Righteousness, the Planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

lxvi. 18. I will gather all Nations and Tongues, and they shall come and fee my Glory.
