Duties toward God enforced by Threats and Promises.

Knowledge.

To know God and Chrift commanded, with its Fruits. Deut. iv.

39. Know and confider in thine Heart, that the Lord he is God in Heaven above, and upon the Earth beneath, there is none else. 1 Chron. xxviii. 9. Know thou the God of thy Father, and serve him with a perfect Heart, and with a willing Mind.

Pf xlvi. 10. Be ftill and know that I am God. Pf. 100. 3.

Jer. ix. 24. Let him that glorieth, glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth me, that I am the Lord, which exercife Lovingkindness and Judgment, and Righteousnefs in the Earth.

God is made known by his Works. Pf. ix. 16. The Lord is known by the Judgments he executeth.

xix. 1. The Heavens declare the Glory of God, the Firmament fheweth his handy Work.

Ver. 2. Day unto Day uttereth Speech, and Night unto Night fheweth Knowledge. Rom. 1. 20. The invifible Things of God, from the Creation of the World are clearly feen, being understood by the Things that he hath made, even his eternal Power and God head.

Pf. lviii. 11. Verily he is a God that judgeth in the Earth.

John i. 4. In him was Life, and the Life was the Light of Men. Ver. 7. 8. Matt. 4. 16.

Ver. 9. The true Light that lighteth every Man, that cometh into the World.

viii. 12. Jefus faid, I am the Light of the World, he that followeth me shall not walk in Darkness, but fhall have the Light of Life.

ix. 5. As long as I am in the World, I am the Light of the World. x. 14. I know my Sheep, and am known of mine.

xii. 46. I am come a Light into the World, that whofoever believeth on me should not abide in Darkness. Ver. 35. 36.

Acts xiii. 47. I have fet thee to be a Light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldft be for Salvation to the Ends of the Earth.

6. Duties of the Enlightened, who know God. A&ts xvii. 30. The Times of Ignorance God winked at, but now commandeth all Men every where to repent.

Rom. xiii. 12. Let us put on the Armour of Light.

Ver. 13. Let us walk honeftly as in the Day, not in Rioting and Drunkenness, not in Chambering and Wantonnefs.

1 Theff. v. 5. Ye are all the Children of the Light and of the Day, we are not of the Night nor of Darkness.

Ver. 6. Therefore let us not fleep as do others, but let us watch and be Sober.

Ver. 8. Let us who are of the Day be fober, putting on the Breaftplate of Faith and Love, and for an Helmet the Hope of Salvation.

1 Pet. ii. 9. Ye should fhew forth the Praises of him who hath called you out of Darkness, to his marvellous Light.

7. Wicked know not God. Exod. v. 2. Pharaoh faid, who is the Lord? that I fhould obey his Voice. I know not the Lord, neither will I let Ifrael go. Job 21.15.

Pf. xiv. 4. Have all the Workers of Iniquity no Knowledge?

lxxix. 6. Pour out thy Wrath upon the Heathen that have not known thee.

lxxxii. 5. They know not, neither will they understand, they walk on in Darkness.

Ver. 7. Your Country is defolate, your City is burnt with Fire. Jer. iv. 22. My People is foolish, they have not known me, they are wife to do Evil, but to do Good they have no Knowledge.

v. 4. They are Foolish, they know not the Way of the Lord, nor the Judgments of their God. Ver. 5.

Hof. iv. 1. The Lord hath a Controverfy with the Inhabitants of the Land, because there is no Truth nor Mercy, nor Knowledge of God in the Land.

John viii. 19. Jefus faid to the Pharifees, ye neither know me nor my Father, Ver. 55:
