God said, "Let there be light," and there was light: and he called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And And God created all living creatures, in the sea, in the air, and upon the earth; and made man after his own likeness, and blessed him. God said unto him, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and rule over it; and have power over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." And God saw every thing that he had made; and behold, it was very good. And on the seventh day he ended his work which he had made: and he blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which he had made. 2. The Garden of Eden. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and out of the ground, he made to grow every tree, that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil; and a river went out of Eden to water the garden, And the Lord God took the man, even Adam whom he had created, and put him in the garden of Eden, to dress it and keep it; and said unto him, "Of every tree of the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou mayest freely eat. But of that tree thou shalt not eat; and in the day that thou eatest of it, thou shall become subject to death." And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 3. The Creation of Eve. And the Lord God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him an help meet for him." |
