the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

SECTION VI.

1 Cor. iv. 1. Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Heb. v. 4. And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 1 Pet. iii. 21. The like figure whereunto baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Matt. iii. 11. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. 1 Cor. xii. 13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Cor. iii. 8, 9. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one; and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. Matt. xxiii. 2, 3. Saying, The Scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses' seat all therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. Phil. i. 15. 18. Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: what then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

SECTION VII.

1 Pet. iii. 20. Which sometime were disobedient, where once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. Acts x. 47. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Luke xxii. 19, 20. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Acts ii. 42. And they continued stedfastly in the Apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

SECTION VIII.

John iii. 3-8. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 1 Cor. x. 3, 4. 16, 17. And did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink for they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them and that rock was Christ. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the com

:

munion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

SECTION IX.

1 Cor. x. 1-4. (See above, § 8.)

SECTION X.

Acts x. 47. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we. Matt. xxviii. 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you ; and Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. John xiii. 8-11. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are elean, but not all. For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. Acts viii. 13. Then Simon himself believed also; and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. John xiii. 24-26. Simon Peter therefore beckoned unto him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

SECTION XI.

Mark xvi. 16. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts ii.

38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 1 Cor. xxvii. 28. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
