163. (3.) We must thankfully wait upon the instructions of our teachers.-Prov. xv. 32. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

164. (4.) We must strictly sanctify the Sabbath. Deut. v. 12. Keep the Sabbath-day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.

165. (5.) We must carefully improve our time.-Eccl. ix. 10. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

166. (6.) We must conscientiously attend to our employments.-Eph. vi. 7. With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.

167. (7.) We must heartily forgive our enemies.-Mat. v. 44. Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

168. (8.) We must fearlessly speak the truth.-Eph. iv. 25. Putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour.

169. (9.) We must be honest to every one.-Lev. xix. 11. Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

170. (10.) We must be kind to every one.-Eph. iv. 32, Be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving on another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

6. LESSONS FROM THE DOCTRINES.

From these doctrines we learn,

(1.) That we should omit no proper opportunity of meeting with God in his ordinances.

(2.) That we should never grudgingly, or pettishly, obey our parents or superiors.

(3.) That we should love, honour, and obey our teachers. (4.) That we should attend to religious duties, and not be listless or playful on the Sabbath.

9. DEVOTIONAL EXERCISE FROM THE LESSONS. O Lord, (1.) keep us from omitting any proper opportunity of meeting with thee in thine ordinances.
