7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

11 And he said, A certain man had two

sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be

in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my Father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

எ அதுபோலமனந்திருப்ப அகத்தியப்படாத தொண் ணூற்றொன்பது நீதிமான்களிலும் மனந்திருப்புகிற ஒரேபா வியைக்குறித்து பரமணடலத்தில் உள்ளவர்களுக்குச் சந் தோஷமுண்டாகுமென்று உங்களுக்குச்சொல்லுகிறேன். அ அல்லது பத்துத் ராகுமாபணத்தையுடைய பெண் ஒருதிராகுமாவையி யிழந்தால், விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி வீட்டைப்பெருக்கி அதைக்கண்டுபிடிக்கும்பரி யந்தம் நன்றாய்த்தேடாமலிருப்பாளா.

எவளானாலும்

கூ கண்டுபிடித்தபினபு, அவள்சிநேகிதிகளையும அயல் வீட்டுக்காரிகளையுங்கூட வரவழைத்து, நானிழந்ததிராகு மாவைக்கண்டுபிடித்தேன். ஆகையால் என்னே சந்தோஷப்படுங்களென்பாள்ல்லவா.

ய அதுபோல மனந்திருப்புகிற ஒரேபாவியைக்குறித் துப்பராபரனுடைய தூதருக்குமுன்பாகச்சந்தோஷமுண்

டாயிருக்கின்றதெனறுங்களுக்குச்சொல்லுகிறேனென்றார். யக பினனும் அவர்சொன்னதாவது, ஒருமனிதனுக்கிர ண்டுகுமாரரிருந்தார்கள்.

யஉ அவர்களில்ளையவன் தகப்பனைநோக்கித்தகப்ப னே ஆஸ்தியில் எனக்குவரும்பங்கைத்தரவேண்டுமென்றா ன். அந்தப்படியவன் அவர்களுக்குப்பொருளைப்பங்கிட்

டான்.

யங சிலநாளுக்குப்பின்பு, இளையமகன் எல்லாவற்றையுஞ் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு தூர தேசத்துக்குப்பிரயாணமாயப் போய், அங்கே கட்டமார்க்கமாய்ச் சீவனம்பண்ணித்தன் ஆஸ்தியையழித்துப்போட்டான்.

யச எல்லாவற்றையும் அவன் செலவழித்தபினபு, அத்தே சத்திலே மிகுந்த பஞ்சகாலமுண்டாயிற்று. அப்பொழுது அவனுக்குக் குறைவுவரத்தொடங்கினப் படியினாலே,

யரு அவன்போய், அந்தத் தேசத்துக்குடிகளில் வனைச்சேர்ந்துகொண்டான். அந்தக் குடியானவன் னைத் தன் வயல்களிலே பன்றிகளைமேய்க்கும்படிக்கு அனு பபினான்.

யகா அப்பொழுது பன்றிகள்தின்னுகிற தவிடுகளினாலே தன்வயிற்றை நிரப்ப ஆசைப்பட்டான். அவற்றையும் ஒரு வ ம் அவனுக்குக்கொடுககவில்லை.

யஎ அப்படியிருக்குங்காலத்தில் அவன் புத்தியடைந்து சொன்னதாவது, ஆ, என் தகப்பனிடத்திலே எத்தனை கூலி ககாரர் மிகுந்த உண்வையுடையவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள். நான் இங்கே பசியினாலே கெட்டுப்போகிறேன்.

யஅ நான் எழுந்து, என் தகப்பனிடத்துக்குப்போய்த் தகப்பனே, தேவனுக்கும் உமக்குமவிரோதமாயப்பாவஞ்

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in ; therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

கூ இதுமுதல் நான் உம்முடைய குமாரனென்றழைக் கப்படுவதற்கு அபாத்திரனாயிருக்கிறேன். உம்முடைய லிக்காரரிலொருவனை போல என்னை வைத்துக்கொள்ளு மென்றுசொல்லவேண்டுமென்று எண்ணி,

உய எழுந்து புறப்பட்டுத்தனதகப்பனிட டத்துக்குப்போ னான் . அப்ப பாழுது அவன் தூரமாயிருக்கையில் தகப்பன் அவனைக்கண்டு, உருக்கமாயிரங்கி ஒடிவந்து, அவனுடைய யகழுத்தைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டு அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்தான். உக குமாரன் அவனைநோக்கி, தகப்பனே, தேவனுக கும் உமக்கும் விரோதமாய்ப்பாவஞ்செய்தேன். துமுத ல் உம்முடையகுமாரனென்று அழைக்கப்படுவதற்கு நான் பாத்திரனல்லவென்று சொன்னபொழுது,

உஉ தகப்பன் தன் வேலைக்காரரை நோக்கி, நீங்கள் (போய) முக்கியமான வஸ்திரத்தைக்கொண்டுவந்து இவ க்குடுத்தி இவனுடையகைக்கு மோதிரத்தையுங்கால்க ளுககுப்பாத் இரட்சைகளையுங்கொடுத்து,

உங பின்பு கொழுத்த கன்றைககொண்டுவந்தடித்துச் சமையுங்கள்.

உச என்குமார கிய இவன மரித்தான். மறுபடியும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறான். இவன் காணாமற்போனான்.இப்பொழு துகாணப்பட்டான். ஆகையால் நாம்பொசித்து, மகிழ்ச் சியாயிருக்கக்கடவோமென்றான். அந்தப்படியவர்கள் சந் தோஷப்படத்தொடங்கினார்கள்.

உரு அவனுடைய மூத்தகுமாரனவயலிலிருந்தான்.அவ ன திரும்பி வீட்டுக்குச் சமீபமாய்வந்தபொழுது, கீதவாத்தி யத்தையும் நடனக்களிப்பையுங்கேட்டு,

உசா வேலைக்காரரிலொருவனையழைத்து, இதெனனவெ ன்றுவிசாரித்தான்.

உஎ வேலைக்காரன் அவனை நோக்கி, உன்சகோதரன வந்தான். உன் தகப்பன் அவனைச்சுகத்தோடே திருமபப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டபடியினாலே கொழுத்த கன்றையடிப்பித்

தானென்றான்.

உஅ அப

பொழுது அவன் கோபம் அடைந்து, உள்ளே போகமனசில்லாதிருந்தான். ஆதலால் தகப்பன் வெளியே வந்து, அவனைமிகவுமவேணடிககொணட்ழைத்தான்.

உகூ அவன் தகப்பனுக்குப்பிரத்தியுத்தரமாகச்சொன னது, இவ்வளவுவருஷம் நான உமக் கூழியஞ்செய்து, உம துகற்பனையை ஒருக்காலும்மீறி நடக்கவில்லை. அப்படியிரு ந்தும், நான் என்சிநேகிதரோடேமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கும்ப டிக்கு, ஒருக்காலும் நீர் ஒரு ஆட்டுக்குட்டியை எனக்குக்

30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad; for this thy brother was dead, and, is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

CHAPTER XVI.

1 The parable of the unjust steward. 14 Christ reproveth the hypocrisy of the covetous Pharisees. 19 The rich glutton, and Lazarus the beggar.

AND he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
