Though he was crucified through Weakness, yet he lived by the Power of God; who loofed the Pains of Death, because it was not poffible that he should be holden of it.

z As he had Power to lay down his Life, fe he had Power to take it again.

Chrift being raised from the Dead, dieth no more; Death hath no more Dominion over him.

b He was declared to be the Son of God with Power, by the Refurrection from the Dead.

c

Thus it behoved Chrift to fuffer, and to rife. from the Dead; that Repentance and Remiffion of Sins fhould be preached in his Name among all Nations.

He was delivered for our Offences, and raifed again for our Juftification: And therefore have we a lively Hope by the Refurrection of Jefus Chrift from the Dead.

If Chrift be not risen, then there is no Refurrection of the Dead, then is the Preaching of the Apostles vain; and our Faith is also vain, we are yet in our Sins: But now is Chrift rifen from the Dead, that we fhould walk in Newness of Life. For in that he died, he died unto Sin once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewife, let us reckon ourfelves alfo to be dead indeed unto Sin, but alive unto God through Jefus Chrift our Lord.

He

He afcended into Heaven, and intercedes for us

at the Right-hand of GOD.

f He that came down from Heaven to do the Will of the Father which fent him, when he had finished the Work which he gave him to do on the Earth, and had fhewed himself alive after his Paffion by many infallible Proofs, left the World again, and went to the Father; and being received up into Heaven, he fits on the Right-hand of God; whom the Heavens must receive, until the Times of Reftitution of all Things, which God hath spoken by the Mouth of all his holy Prophets fince the World began.

When the Son of God had by himself purged our Sins, he fat down on the Right-hand of the Majesty on high.

He being received up into Glory, and set at the Right-hand of God in the heavenly Places, maketh Interceffion for us.

i Christ is not entered into the holy Places made with Hands, which are the Figures of the true; but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the Prefence of God for us.

He hath afcended on high; he hath led Captivity captive; he hath received Gifts for Men; yea, for the Rebellious alfo, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

If any Man fin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jefus Chrift the Righteous; who being made an High-Priest for ever, and being an unchangeable Priesthood, is able to fave them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, feeing he ever liveth to make Interceffion for them. Our Redeemer is strong; he thall thoroughly plead our Cause.

" No Man cometh unto the Father, but by his Son Jefus, who is gone to prepare a Place for us in his Father's Houfe; and he will come again and receive us unto himself, that where he is, there we may be alfo.

Which Way the HOLY GHOST contributes to our REDEMPTION.

The HOLY GHOST is GOD.

• This is the Eternal Spirit; the Spirit of God and of Chrift; fent down from Heaven from the Father.

The Lord with whom Mofes fpake, is that Spirit, who is also called the Lord Jehovah.

He that lieth to the Holy Ghost, lieth to God. What, know you not that your Body is the Temple of the Holy Ghoft, which is in you?

Who

• Whofoever speaketh against the Holy Ghoft, it-fhall not be forgiven him, neither in this World, neither in the World to come.

t

Mighty Signs and Wonders were wrought by the Power of the Spirit of God.

"The Spirit fearcheth all Things, yea, the deep Things of God, which no Man knoweth but the Spirit of God.

The extraordinary OPERATIONS of the HOLY GHOST,

Jefus was conceived of the Holy Ghoft: And when he was baptized, the Heavens were opened unto him, and the Spirit of God defcended like a Dove, and lighted upon him; and he was full of the Holy Ghoft; and the Spirit of the Lord being upon him, he preached the Gofpel of Peace and Salvation.

* He caft out Devils by the Spirit of God; and through the Eternal Spirit he offered himself without Spot to God.

y After Jefus, through the Holy Ghost, had given Commandments unto the Apoftles whom he had chofen, and was taken up from them into Heaven, he fent them another Comforter, which is the Holy Ghoft, even the Spirit of Truth; who was to abide with them for ever, to guide them into all Truth, to teach them all Things, to bring all Things to their Remembrance, whatfoever he had faid unto them, and to fhew them Things to come.

And

And the Apoftles were all filled with the Holy Ghoft, and fpake with other Tongues as the Spirit gave them Utterance.

That great Salvation, which at the first began. to be spoken by the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard him: God bearing them Witnefs, both with Signs and Wonders, and with divers Miracles and Gifts of the Holy Ghoft, according to his own Will.

For to one was given by the Spirit the Word of Wisdom and Knowledge; to another the Gifts of Healing by the fame Spirit; to another the Working of Miracles; to another Prophecy; to another Difcerning of Spirits; to another divers Kinds of Tongues; to another the Interpretation of Tongues: But all thefe wrought that one, and the felf-fame Spirit, dividing to every Man feverally as he would.

C

Prophecy came not in old Time by the Will of Man; but holy Men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghoft.

The Mystery of Chrift which in other Ages was not made known unto the Sons of Men, was in thefe laft Days revealed unto his holy Apoftles. and Prophets by the Spirit.

The common OPERATIONS of the SPIRIT in BELIEVERS.

No Man can fay that Jefus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghoft; and no Man, speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jefus accurfed.
