y There fhall be Mockers in the laft Times, which fall walk after their own ungodly Lufts; these be they who feparate themselves, fenfual, having not the Spirit.

Lord, I have loved the Habitation of thy House, and the Place where thine Honour dwelleth. And I was glad when they faid unto me, Let us go into the House of the Lord.

a How amiable are thy Tabernacles, O Lord of Hofts! A Day in thy Courts is better than a thoufand.

Where two or three are gathered together (faith Chrift) in my Name, there am I in the midst of them.

CHAP. VII.

Concerning the DUTY of MEN toward ONE ANOTHER.

a

LOVE.

BE kindly affectioned one to another, with

brotherly Love. Love as Brethren. For this is the Meffage that ye heard from the Beginning, that we should love one another.

Ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. And this Commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God, love his Brother alfo.

If a Man fay, I love God, and hateth his Brother, he is a Liar: For he that loveth not his Brother, whom he hath feen, how can he love God, whom he hath not feen?

d If God fo loved us, that he fent his Son to be the Propitiation for our Sins, we ought alfo to love one another.

• This is my Commandment, (faith our Saviour) that ye love one another, as I have loved you.

And by this fhall all Men know that ye are my Difciples, if ye have Love one to another.

f Owe no Man any Thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the Law. For this, thou fhalt not commit Adultery; thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal; thou shalt not bear false Witness; thou fhalt not covet. And if there be any other Commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this Saying; namely, Thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thyfelf.

Love worketh no Ill to his Neighbour; therefore Love is the fulfilling of the Law. The End of the Commandment is Charity; out of a pure Heart, and of a good Confcience, and of Faith unfeigned.

b Let our Love be without Diffimulation.

i Let us not love in Word, neither in Tongue, but in Deed and in Truth.

* See that ye love one another with a pure Heart fervently; and with Love unfeigned.

Above all Things have fervent Charity among yourselves; for Charity fhall cover the Multitude of Sins.

m Let brotherly Love continue.

"The Lord make you to increase and abound in .Love one towards another, and towards all Men. • A Man that hath Friends muft fhew him felf friendly For there is a Friend that sticketh clofer than a Brother.

Thine own Friend and thy Father's Friend forfake not.

The Stranger that dwelleth with you, fhall be unto you as one born amongst you, and thou fhalt love him as thyself.

Ye have heard that it hath been faid by them of old Time, Thou shalt love thy Neighbour, and hate thine Enemy: But Chrift faith unto you, Love your Enemies. For if you love them which love you, what Reward have ye? What do you more than others? Do not even the Publicans the fame? For Sinners alfo love those that love them.

• Thou shalt not bear any Grudge against the Children of thy People. Grudge not one against another, Brethren, left ye be condemned; behold the Judge ftandeth before the Door.

• Whofoever hateth his Brother is a Murderer. They are foolish and difobedient, who live in Malice and Envy, hateful, and hating one another.

HONOUR and RESPECT.

Be kindly affectioned one to another; in Honour preferring one another.

* Look not every Man on his own Things; but every Man alfo on the Things of others.

* Let there be no Strife among you, which of you should be accounted the greatest.. Let nothing be done through Strife or Vain-glory, but

a Ye Younger, fubmit yourselves unto the Elder; yea, all of you be fubject one to another, and be clothed with Humility.

Rebuke not an Elder, but intreat him as a Father, and the younger Men as Brethren; the elder Women as Mothers, the younger as Sifters.

• Thou shalt rife up before the hoary Head, and honour the Face of the old Man.

d Let not the Child behave himself proudly againft the Ancient, nor the Base against the Honourable. Honour Widows that are Widows indeed. f He that defpifeth his Neighbour, finneth.

Let us not accept any Man's Perfon, neither let us give flattering Titles unto Man; having Mens Perfonsin Admiration because of Advantage.

h Let no Man glory in Men, nor be puffed up for one against another.

They that forfake the Law, praise the Wicked; but fuch as keep the Law, contend with them: In whofe Eyes a vile Perfon is contemned. But they honour them that fear the Lord.
