31 Porque si nos juzgásemos á nosotros mismos, ciertamente no seríamos juzgados.

32 Mas siendo juzgados, somos castigados del Señor, paraque no seamos condenados con el mundo.

33 Por esto hermanos, cuando os congregareis para comer, esperaos unos á otros.

34 Y si alguno tiene hambre, coma en su casa; á fin de que no os junteis para juicio. Las demas cosas las ordenaré cuando vaya.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I

come.

CHAPTER XII.

[OW concerning spiritual gifts,

tuales no quiero, hermanos,

que vivais en ignorancia.

2 Vosotros sabeis que erais Gentiles, arrastrados segun se os conducía á estos ídolos mudos.

3 Por tanto os hago saber, que ninguno que habla por el Espíritu de Dios dice anathema á Jesus, que ninguno puede llamar á Jesus, Señor, sino por el Espíritu Santo.

4 Y hay diversidad de dones: mas uno mismo es el Espíritu.

Y hay diversidad de ministerios, mas uno mismo es el Señor.

6 Y hay diversidad de operaciones, mas uno mismo es el Dios, que obra en todas las cosas.

7 Y á cada uno es dada la manifestacion del Espíritu para provecho.

8 Porque á uno le es dada por el Espíritu palabra de sabiduría, á otro palabra de ciencia segun el mismo Espíritu.

9 A otro fé por el mismo Espíritu: á otro la gracia de sanar por el mismo Espíritu.

10 A otro el obrar de milagros: á otro profecía: á otro discrecion de espíritus: á otro diversidad de lenguas; y á otro interpretacion de lenguas.

11 Mas todas estas cosas las obra

2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away nnto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one

aquel solo y mismo Espíritu, repartiendo á cada uno como quiere él. 12 Porque así como el cuerpo es uno, y tiene muchos miembros, y todos los miembros del cuerpo, aunque sean muchos, son un solo cuerpo: así tambien es Christo.

13 Porque por un Espíritu somos todos bautizados en un cuerpo, Judios, ó Gentiles, siervos, ó libres, y todos hemos bebido en un mismo Espíritu.

14 Porque tampoco el cuerpo es un solo miembro, sino muchos.

15 Si digere el pie; porque yo no soy mano, no soy del cuerpo: ¿ deja por esto de ser del cuerpo?

16 Y si digere la oreja, porque no soy ojo, no soy del cuerpo: ¿deja por esto de ser del cuerpo?

17 Si todo el cuerpo fuese ojo: ¿dónde estaría el oido? Y si todo fuese oido: ¿dónde estaría el olfato?

18 Mas ahora Dios ha colocado cada uno de los miembros en el cuerpo como le plugo.

19 Y si todos los miembros fuesen uno: ¿en dónde estaría el cuerpo? 20 Mas ahora muchos son á la verdad los miembros, empero el cuerpo uno solo.

21 Y el ojo no puede decir á la mano: no te he menester, y asimismo la cabeza á los pies, no tengo necesidad de vosotros.

22 Antes los miembros del cuerpo que parecen mas flacos, son nece

sarios.

23 Y á los miembros del cuerpo que tenemos per menos decorosos, á esos damos mas honra, y los que en nosotros son mas indecorosos, los cubrimos con mas decoro.

24 Porque los que en nosotros son mas honestos, no tienen necesidad de nada, mas Dios atemperó el cuerpo, dando honra mas cum=plida al que la faltaba.

and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, 1 have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

25 Paraque no haya disension en el cuerpo, sino que todos los miembros tengan la misma solicitud, los unos para con los otros.

26 De manera que si un miembro padece, todos los miembros padecen con él; ó si un miembro es honrado, todos los miembros se gozan con él.

27 Pues vosotros sois el cuerpo de Christo, y miembros de él en particular.

25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another,

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

guas de hombres y de ángeles, sino tuviese caridad, soy como metal que suena, ó campana que re

suena.

2 Y aunque yo tuviese el don de profecía, y entendiese todos los misterios, y toda ciencia, y tuviese toda la fé, de manera que pudiese remover las montañas, y no tuviere caridad, nada soy.

3 Y si distribuyese todos mis bienes para dar de comer á los pobres, si entregase mi cuerpo para ser quemado, y no tuviese caridad, de nada me aprovecha.

4 La caridad es sufrida, es benigna; la caridad no es envidiosa, no procede inconsideradamente, no se ensoberbece.

of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 No obra indecorosamente, no busca su provecho, no se mueve á ira, no piensa mal.

6 No se regocija en la iniquidad, mas se goza en la verdad.

7 Todo lo sobrelleva, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

8 La caridad nunca fenece: aunque las profecías se hayan de acabar, las lenguas cesar, y haya de desaparecer la ciencia.

9 Porque en parte conocemos, y en parte profetizamos.

10 Mas cuando haya venido lo que es perfecto, lo que es en parte, será abolido.

11 Cuando yo era niño, hablaba como niño, sentía como niño, y pensaba como niño: mas cuando fuí ya hombre hecho, dí de mano las cosas de niño.

12 Porque ahora vemos por espejo en enigma: mas entonces cara á cara: ahora conozco en parte, mas entonces conoceré como soy conocido.

13 Y ahora permanecen estas tres cosas, la fé, la esperanza, y la caridad; mas de estas la mayor es la caridad.

CAPITULO XIV.

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

CHAPTER XIV.

dones espirituales, y sobre todo

el que podais profetizar.

2 Porque el que habla en una lengua desconocida, no habla á los hombres sino á Dios, porque ninguno entiende, aunque en espíritu hablá misterios.

3 Mas el que profetiza, hablá á los hombres para edificacion, y exhortacion, y consuelo.

4 El que habla en una lengua no conocida, á sí mismo se edificá; mas el que profetiza, edificá á la Iglesia.

5 Quisiera que todos vosotros hablaseis lenguas, pero quisiera mas

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophe

yor es el que profetiza, que el que habla lenguas; á no ser que tambien interprete, paraque la Iglesia reciba edificacion.

6 Ahora pues, hermanos, si yo viniere á vosotros hablando lenguas; ¿qué os aprovecharé si no os hablare ó con revelacion, ó con ciencia, ó con profecía, ó con doctrina?

7 Y aun las cosas inanimadas que dan sonido, como flauta, ó harpa; á no ser que los sonidos sean distintos, ¿cómo se distinguirá lo que se toca en la flauta, ó lo que se tañe en el harpa?

8 Porque si la trompeta diese un sonido incierto, ¿quién se apercibirá para la batalla?

9 Así tambien vosotros, si no diereis con la lengua palabras inteligibles, ¿cómo se entenderá lo que se dice? porque hablareis al aire.

10 Hay por egemplo tantos generos de voces en el mundo, y ninguna de ellas carece de significado.

11 Por esto si yo ignorare el significado de la voz, seré barbaro para aquel á quien hablo, y el que habla, será barbaro para mí.

12 Así tambien vosotros: ya que sois codiciosos de dones espirituales, procurad abundar en ellos para edificacion de la Iglesia.

13 Y por esto el que hablare una lengua no conocida, pida que pueda interpretarla.

14 Porque si orare en una lengua no conocida, mi espíritu orá, mas mi mente queda sin fruto.

15 ¿Qué haré pues? Oraré con el espiritu, y oraré tambien con la mente, cantaré con el espíritu, y tambien cantaré con la mente.

16 Porque cuando tú bendigeres con el espíritu, ¿cómo dirá Amen á tu hacimiento de gracias el que

6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine ?

7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

16 Else, when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearn
