THERE is evidently a peculiar necessity at the present time for encouraging the study of the Scriptures, and for maintaining their sole and independent authority as the rule of faith and conduct. Our children are accustomed to learn the truth on this subject, at their second step in the Catechism, and they afterwards find the same doctrine more fully opened, in the first chapter of our Confession of Faith.
