Prayers of Faith: On Learning to Trust God"A powerful prayer life is available to everyone, "claims author, mother of ten (eight adopted) children. "At age 24 1 suddenly found myself deep in the jungles of Brazil, the mother of eight children (whose ages ranged from not-quite-two up to nine). But the really hard part was being married to an abusive, unfaithful missionary husband," explains Ms. Sand when describing what made her turn to prayer. "None of my academic training or experience in the church prepared me to face the rigors of jungle living under these adverse circumstances. We had no electricity for eleven of the 15 years I lived in Brazil raising my family. The missionary community was either in denial about what was happening or implied that I deserved the abuse." Discovering that God was willing to answer prayers began Ms. Sand on a wonderful odyssey of learning to trust God for the smallest details of her life in bringing up her family. In her book, Prayers of Faith: On Learning to Trust God, she points out the basic principles of prayer that anyone can use to develop a bold relationship with the Creator of the Universe. |
