snare of his soul, xviii. 6, 7. He that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool, Jer. xvii. 11.

Fear not them which kill the body; but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell, Matt. | I. 28. Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire, xviii. 8, 9. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels, xxv. 41. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched, Mark ix. 47, 48. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame, Luke xvi. 23, 24. The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation, John v. 28, 29. The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven

dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire, 12—15. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death, xxi. 8. a Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee, Job xxii. 21. When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison, Luke xii. 58.

c And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king, Put this fellow in the prison, the king's son; and say, Thus saith and feed him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, until I come in peace, 1 Kings xxii. 26, 27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, a Thou shalt not commit adultery:

Thou shalt not commit adultery, Exod. xx. 14. And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death, Lev. xx. 10. If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from among you, Deut. xxii. 22. Whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul, Prov. vi. 32.

Ἐῤῥέθη δὲ ὅτι ὃς ἂν ἀπολύσῃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὑτοῦ δότω αὐτῇ ἀποστάσιον.

It hath been said, a Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

a They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? Matt. xix. 7. When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house, Deut. xxiv. i. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away, Mal. ii. 15, 16. And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept: But from made them male and female. the beginning of the creation God

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery, Mark x. 5—12. Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband, committeth adultery, Luke xvi. 18.
