Τὸ δὲ καθίσαι ἐκ δεξιῶν μου καὶ ἐξ εὐωνύμων μου οὐκ ἔστιν ἐμὸν δοῦναι, ἀλλ ̓ οἷς ητοίμασται.

But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

VER. 2.

Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Υπάγετε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν· καὶ εὐθέως εἰσπορευόμενοι εἰς αὐτὴν, εὑρήσετε πῶλον λύσαντες αὐτὸν ἀγάγετε. δεδεμένον, ἐφ ̓ ὃν οὐδὲις ἀνθρώπων κεκάθικε

And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

VER. 3.

Καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπη· Τί ποιεῖτε τοῦτο ; εἴπατε· Ὅτι ὁ Κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει· καὶ εὐθεως αὐτὸν ἀποστελεῖ ὧδε.

And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will

send him hither.

VER. 4.

̓Απῆλθον δὲ, καὶ εὗρον τὸν πῶλον δεδε ̔Ο δὲ, ἀποβαλὼν τὸ ἱμάτιον αὑτοῦ, ἀνασ- μένον πρὸς τὴν θύραν ἔξω ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀμφόδου, τὰς ἦλθε πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν.

καὶ λύουσιν αὐτόν.

And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

VER. 5.

Καί τινες τῶν ἐκεῖ ἑστηκότων ἔλεγον αὐτοῖς· Τί ποιεῖτε λύοντες τὸν πῶλον ;

said unto them, What do ye, loosing the And certain of them that stood there colt?

VER. 6.

Οἱ δὲ εἶπον αὐτοῖς καθὼς ἐνετείλατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς· καὶ ἀφῆκαν αὐτούς.

And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

VER. 7.

καὶ ἐπέβαλον αὐτῷ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν, καὶ Καὶ ἤγαγον τὸν πῶλον πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, ἐκάθισεν ἐπ ̓ αὐτῷ.

And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

VER. 8.

Πολλοὶ δὲ τὰ ἱμάτια αὑτῶν ἔστρωσαν εἰς τὴν ὁδόν· ἄλλοι δὲ στοιβάδας ἔκοπτον ἐκ τῶν δένδρων, καὶ ἐστρώννυον εἰς τὴν ὁδόν.

Καὶ οἱ προάγοντες καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον, λέγοντες· Ωσαννὰ, εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου·

And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord :

VER. 10.

Εὐλογημένη ἡ ἐρχομένη βασιλεία ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου, τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Δαβίδ· Ωσαννά ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις.

Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

VER. 11.

Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ εἰς τὸ ἱερόν· καὶ περιβλεψάμενος πάντα, ὀψίας ἤδη οὔσης τῆς ὥρας, ἐξῆλθεν εἰς Βηθανίαν μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα.

And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν, καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστε ρὰς, κατέστρεψε.

a And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the that sold doves ; moneychangers, and the seats of them

VER. 16.

Καὶ οὐκ ἤφιεν ἵνα τὶς διενέγκη σκεῦος διὰ τοῦ ἱεροῦ.

VER. 17.

Καὶ ἐδίδασκε, λέγων αὐτοῖς· Οὐ γέγο ραπται· Οτι ὁ οἶκός μου, οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ; ὑμεῖς δὲ ἐποιήσατε αὐτὸν σπήλαιον λῃστῶν.

And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

VER. 18.

Καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ Γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ ̓Αρ

Καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ χιερεῖς, καὶ ἐζήτουν πῶς αὐτὸν ἀπολέσουσιν· ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ αὐτὸν, ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος Βηθανίας, ἐπείνασε. ἐξεπλήσσετο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ.

a And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry :

VER. 13.

Καὶ ἰδὼν συκὴν μακρόθεν, ἔχουσαν φύλο λα; ἦλθεν εἰ ἄρα εὑρήσει τὶ ἐν αὐτῇ· καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐπ' αὐτὴν, οὐδὲν εὗρεν εἰ μὴ φύλλα οὐ γὰρ ἦν καιρὸς σύκων.

And seeing a fig tree afar of having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves ; for the time of figs was not yet.

saith unto him, Master, behold, the figo | come to him the Chief Priests, and the tree which thou cursedst is withered away! | Scribes, and the elders,

VER. 22:

Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς, λέγει αὐτοῖς· Εχετε πίστιν Θεοῦ.

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have * faith in God.

* Or, the faith of God.

VER. 23.

̓Αμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅτι ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ· Αρθητι, καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ μὴ διακριθῇ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὑτοῦ, ἀλλὰ πιστεύσῃ ὅτι ἃ λέγει γίνεται· ἔσται αὐτῷ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea ; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

VER. 24.

Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν, πάντα ὅσα ἂν προσευχόμενοι αἰτεῖσθε, πιστεύετε ὅτι λαμβάνετε καὶ ἔσται ὑμῖν,

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

VER. 25.

Καὶ ὅταν στήκητε προσευχόμενοι, ἀφίσ ετε εἴ τι ἔχετε κατά τινος· ἵνα καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφῇ ὑμῖν τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν.

a And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Εἰ δὲ ὑμεῖς οὐκ ἀφίετε, οὐδὲ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφήσει τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν.

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

VER. 27.

Καὶ ἔρχονται πάλιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ περιπατοῦντος αὐτοῦ, ἔρχονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ̓Αρχιερεῖς, καὶ οἱ Γραμμα τεῖς, καὶ οἱ Πρεσβύτεροι·

Καὶ ἀποκριθέντες, λέγουσι τῷ Ἰησοῦ Οὐκ οἴδαμεν. Καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀποκριθεὶς, λέγει αὐτοῖς· Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ,

And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answeryou by what authority I do these things. ing saith unto them, Neither do I tell

Καὶ λαβόντες αὐτὸν, ἀπέκτειναν, καὶ ἐξέβαλον ἔξω τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος.

And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

VER. 9.

And he began to speak unto them by parables. Acertain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and Τί οὖν ποιήσει ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ; went into a far country. Ἐλεύσεται καὶ ἀπολέσει τοὺς γεωργούς, aSee on Matt. xxi. ver. 53 42. καὶ δώσει τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ἄλλοις.

VER. 2.

Καὶ ἀπέστειλε πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς τῷ καιρῷ δοῦλον, ἵνα παρὰ τῶν γεωργῶν λάβη ἀπὸ τοῦ καρποῦ τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος.

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

VER. S.

What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

Οὐδὲ τὴν

VER, 10.

ταύτην ἀνέγνωτε; Δίγραφὴν θον ὃν ἀπεδοκίμασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες, οὗτις ἐγενήθη εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας·

And have ye not read this Scripture ;`

Οἱ δὲ, λαβόντες αὐτὸν, ἔδειραν, καὶ The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

ἀπέστειλαν κενόν.

And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

VER. 4.

Καὶ πάλιν ἀπέστειλε πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἄλ λον δοῦλον· κακεῖνον λιθοβολήσαντες ἐκε. | φαλαίωσαν, καὶ ἀπέστειλαν ἠτιμωμένον.

And again he sent unto them another servant ; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

VER. 5.

Καὶ πάλιν ἄλλον ἀπέστειλε· κακεῖνον ἀπέκτειναν· καὶ πολλοὺς ἄλλους, τοὺς μὲν δέροντες, τοὺς δὲ ἀποκτείνοντες.

And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη· καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν. This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes ?

VER. 12.

Καὶ ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν κρατῆσαι· καὶ ἐφοβή θησαν τὸν ὄχλον· ἔγνωσαν γὰρ ὅτι πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὴν παραβολὴν εἶπε· καὶ ἀφέντες αὐτὸν, ἀπῆλθον.

a And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them : and they left him, and went their way.

Καὶ ἀποστέλλουσι πρὸς αὐτόν τινας τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ τῶν ̔Ηρωδιανῶν, ἵνα αὐτὸν ἀγρεύσωσι λόγῳ.

VER. 14.

Οἱ δὲ ἐλθόντες λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Διδάσε καλε, οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀληθὴς εἶ, καὶ οὐ μέλει σοι περὶ οὐδενός· οὐ γὰρ βλέπεις εἰς πρόσε ωπον ἀνθρώπων, ἀλλ ̓ ἐπ ̓ ἀληθείας τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ διδάσκεις• Εξεστι κήνσαν Καίσαρι δοῦναι, ἢ οὔ ; δῶμεν, ἢ μὴ δῶμεν ; But those husbandmen said among And when they were come, they say themselves, This is the heir; come, let us unto him, Master, we know that thou art kill him, and the inheritance shall be our's.
