CHAPTER 13.

HIS is the third time I am coming to you. In the nouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be esablished.

2 I told you before, and foreell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jē'sus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

are threatened.

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

13 All the saints salute you. 14 The grace of the Lord Jē'sus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Ä'-měn.

The second epistle to the Co-rin'-thiǎns was written from Phi-lip'-pī, a city of Mac-e-dō'-ni-ă, by Ti'-tus and Lû'-căs.

CHAPTER 1.

PAUL, anther by man, but

an apostle, (not of

by Je'-sus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead ;)

2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Gă-la'-tiă:

3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Je'-sus Christ,

sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. A'-měn.

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after

man.

12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Je'-sus Christ.

13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

not of men.

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: 17 Neither went I up to Jěrû'-să-lěm to them which were apostles before me; but I went into A-ra'-bi-ă, and returned again unto Dă-măs'-cus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jě-rû'-să-lěm to see Pe'-těr, and abode with him fifteen days.

19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syr'-I-ǎ and Çilic'-I-ă;

22 And was unknown_by_face unto the churches of Jû-dæ ́-ǎ which were in Christ:

23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. 24 And they glorified God in

me.

CHAPTER 2. THEN fourteen years after I went up again to Jě-rû'-sălem with Bar'-nă-bas, and took Ti'-tus with me also.

2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel, which I preach among the Gen'-tiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

3 But neither Ti'-tus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: 4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in

5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person :) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: 7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Pē'-tĕr;

8 (For he that wrought effectually in Pe'-těr to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me to ward the Gen'-tiles :)

9 And when James, Ce'-phas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Bär'-nă-băs the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. 10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

11 But when Pē'-ter was come to An'-ti-och, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gen'-tiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Bär'-nă-băs also was carried away with their dissimulation.

walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Pe'-těr before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gen'-tiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gen'-tiles to live as do the Jews?

15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gěn'-tiles,

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Je'-sus Christ, even we have believed in Jē'-sus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

CHAPTER 3.

FOOLISH Gă-la'-tians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jē'

differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all ; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Ab'-bă, Father.

7 Wherefore thou art no more

from the law.

a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.

13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.

14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me an angel of God, even as Christ Je'-sus.

15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

17 They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
