THE little Volume now sent forth, consists of Sermons preached in the ordinary course of the author's ministrations. They were not composed with any view to publication; nor were they, for the most part, delivered expressly, or exclusively, to that class of persons to whom in particular they are now addressed. Indeed, the last of the collection was intended peculiarly for Parents, Guardians, and Teachers, whom the author wished to stimulate and encourage in the performance of their duty to the Young, by a narrative of what had recently fallen under his own observation.
When, however, he was induced to comply with the request of some of these friends, that that sermon should be committed to the press, he
